Metal Roof – Valley Leak Repair
Mansfield, Georgia • Metal Roof Repair • Roof Leak (Wind Driven Rain)
THE ISSUE
The homeowner reported a ceiling leak that only occurred during heavy wind-driven rain, making the source difficult to identify. Because the home was insulated with spray foam applied directly to the underside of the roof deck, the attic could not be used to trace the leak. Our inspection found the exposed fastener metal roof valley had been installed without expandable closure strips, allowing wind-driven rain to enter beneath the panels. Additional deficiencies included missing panel closure strips, leaking fasteners, and hidden rotten roof decking beneath the valley.

OUR SOLUTION
The affected metal panels, valley metal, and underlayment were removed to expose the damaged roof deck. Rotten decking was carefully replaced while protecting the existing spray foam insulation. A self-adhered ice and water barrier was installed throughout the valley, followed by new synthetic underlayment. New valley metal was installed with expandable closure strips, and leaking fasteners were replaced with larger-diameter sealed fasteners to create a durable, weather-tight repair.

Peachtree City, Georgia • Asphalt Shingle Roof Repair • Roof Leak (Plumbing Vent)
THE ISSUE
The homeowner noticed an active roof leak around a plumbing vent penetration on an eight-year-old home. Our inspection determined that the original pipe boot had been improperly installed, with fasteners driven through the base flashing close to the outside edge. Over time, water entered through these fasteners, causing the roof decking beneath the vent to deteriorate and allowing the leak to worsen.

OUR SOLUTION
The affected shingles, pipe boot, underlayment, and damaged roof decking were removed to expose the compromised area. New roof decking was installed, followed by a self-adhered ice and water barrier for added protection. A new plumbing vent pipe boot and CertainTeed Landmark shingles were installed to restore a durable, weather-tight roofing system and permanently eliminate the leak.

Roof Valley Leak Repair
Marietta, GA • Asphalt Shingle Roof Repair • Property Management Repair
THE ISSUE
A residential property management company contacted Ascend Roofing and Contracting Inc. after a tenant reported an active roof leak. Our inspection determined the leak originated from a roof valley that had been improperly installed, with fasteners placed too close to the valley cut line. Over time, debris slowed water flow through the valley, allowing moisture to penetrate the roofing system and create a leak inside the home.

OUR SOLUTION
The entire roof valley was removed down to the roof decking to eliminate the improperly installed materials. A new granulated self-adhered ice and water barrier was installed throughout the valley for enhanced waterproof protection, followed by new matching 3-tab shingles. The repair corrected the original installation deficiencies and restored a durable, weather-tight roofing system.
